2026-10-21 17:41

On 17 October, the Chinese Embassy in Hungary held the award ceremony for the 2026 Chinese Ambassador’s Scholarship. Ambassador Gong Tao, Judit Eva, President of the Hungary-China Friendship Association, and Erdélyi Zsuzsanna, Principal of the Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School, attended and delivered remarks. More than 200 representatives from all walks of life took part in the event.

Ambassador Gong noted that China-Hungary cooperation calls for young talents with a good command of Chinese and sound knowledge of China. Launched in 2016, the Chinese Ambassador’s Scholarship has, over the past decade, encouraged Hungarian young people to learn the Chinese language and explore Chinese culture, sowing seeds of China-Hungary friendship. He encouraged the awardees to keep studying Chinese diligently, pursue knowledge, and contribute to bilateral friendship.

Judit Eva remarked that the scholarship fosters cross-cultural understanding and cultivates young talent for bilateral exchanges. Principal Erdélyi Zsuzsanna said the scholarship motivates students to master Chinese, apply what they have learned, and become builders of friendship between the two countries.

Student representatives shared their experiences of learning Chinese. Ambassador Gong presented certificates to the awardees and posed for group photos. The ceremony featured traditional Chinese performances including chorus, pipa, clapper talk and guqin.
