On August 7, Ambassador Gong Tao attended the Pre-departure Guidance Session and Symposium for Hungarian Recipients of the 2026 Chinese Government Scholarship. Participants included Ms. Flóra Megyeri, representative of Hungary’s Ministry of Education and Children’s Affairs; Academician Hamar Imre (Hao Qingxin) of Eötvös Loránd University; Director Dr. Gergely Salát of Pázmány Péter Catholic University; Dean Dr. P. Szabό Sándor of the University of Public Service; Counselor Yang Xiuhua and young diplomats from the Chinese Embassy in Hungary; and over 40 representatives of incoming and returning Hungarian students to China were present.

Ambassador Gong extended congratulations to the scholarship recipients and welcomed them to pursue further studies in China. He noted that studying abroad is not only an opportunity for young people to pursue academic development, but also an important way to promote people-to-people exchanges and enhance friendship between China and Hungary. China-Hungary educational exchanges have a long history and a solid foundation. This year marks the beginning of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, and China’s continued high-level opening-up and talent development system will provide new opportunities for international students to better understand China, participate in practical cooperation between the two countries, and achieve academic and personal growth. Ambassador Gong encouraged the students to cherish this opportunity, gain a deeper understanding of China, and serve as ambassadors of friendship between China and Hungary.

At the symposium, Hungarian representatives shared their expectations and suggestions with the students, encouraging them to better understand China, experience Chinese culture, and play a bridging role in promoting exchanges between the two countries. The participating students expressed their commitment to gaining first-hand experience of China, strengthening mutual understanding, and contributing to China-Hungary friendship. Representatives from the China Scholarship Council (CSC), East China Normal University, the Embassy, and returning students provided pre-departure guidance both online and offline. The event featured active exchanges in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
