On 15 May 2025, Ambassador Gong Tao met with the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs of the HKSAR Government, Mr. Erick Tsang Kwok-wai. The two sides exchanged views on the active role of the HKSAR in various areas of exchanges and cooperation between China and Hungary. The meeting was attended by Minister Counsellor Ms. Chen Yiwei. 

Ambassador Gong Tao introduced the current political and economic situation in Hungary as well as the bilateral cooperation between China and Hungary in various fields such as politics, economy, culture and education. Ambassador Gong Tao said that he expected Hong Kong to give full play to its own advantages and further develop cooperation with Hungary in areas such as finance, legal arbitration, consultancy services, logistics and shipping, etc., so as to contribute to the development of bilateral relations between China and Hungary. 

Mr. Tsang said that he led the HKSAR Government delegation to Hungary with the aim of strengthening economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hungary. The HKSAR is willing to integrate into the development and construction of the Greater Bay Area, and seize the opportunity to join hands with Guangdong Province and the Macao SAR in a strong alliance and venture overseas together, so as to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation in the Greater Bay Area.
