2025-05-13 03:30

On May 7, Ambassador Gong Tao met with CEO István Joó of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) to exchange views on China-Hungary economic and trade cooperation. Also present at the meeting were Minister Counselor Chen Yiwei from the Chinese Embassy and Szásá, Chief of Cabinet at HIPA.

Ambassador Gong noted that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, economic and trade cooperation between China and Hungary has flourished, yielding fruitful results. He emphasized that Hungary’s favorable investment environment and efficient, pragmatic investment services have been widely recognized by Chinese enterprises. The year 2025 marks a harvest year for China-Hungary economic and trade cooperation, with multiple projects in sectors such as new energy, machinery manufacturing, and telecommunications announced, launched, or put into operation since the beginning of the year. Major projects like those of BYD and CATL are also progressing steadily. China is willing to deepen practical cooperation with Hungary on the basis of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit, jointly upholding multilateralism and the international economic and trade order.

Joó praised the pivotal role of Chinese enterprises in Hungary’s economic development, stressing that Hungary-China cooperation aligns with the common interests of both countries. He highlighted that investment from China is crucial to Hungary and represents an opportunity—not a risk—for the country’s industrial development. Hungary remains committed to its cooperative policy with China and will continue to provide favorable conditions for Chinese enterprises investing in Hungary, safeguarding their legitimate rights and interests.
