President Xi Jinping recently replied to a letter from teachers and students of the "China Corner" at St. Margaret College Secondary School in Malta. He encourages more young Maltese to actively participate in people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Malta.

Xi Jinping noted, thanks to efforts of both sides, the "China Corner" at St. Margaret College Secondary School has actively contributed to enhancing understanding of China among the Maltese youth and promoting the China-Malta friendship. He wishes the "China Corner" an even greater success, and welcomes teachers and students of the school to China for exchanges and study.

Xi Jinping pointed out, universal peace and harmony among all states are what the Chinese nation has been longing for in human society since ancient times. They also embody the cultural root of the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind. We live in a world where history and reality are intertwined, where opportunities and challenges coexist, and where all people rise or fall together. Only by reaching out to each other and seeking win-win cooperation can mankind share the fruits of development. To address difficulties holding back global development and meet challenges to international security, China has put forward the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, and the Global Security Initiative one after another. By building up common ground and pooling strength, China is acting on the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind with practical actions.

Noting that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Malta, Xi Jinping stressed that the relations between the two countries have set a fine example of friendship among countries that differ in history and culture. He hopes that more Maltese teachers, students and other young people will actively participate in cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Malta, so as to promote mutual learning of civilizations and carry forward the friendship between the two peoples.

St. Margaret Secondary School is a comprehensive public school in Malta. In 2010, it founded "China Corner" with the support of the Chinese side. The teachers and students of the "China Corner" sent a letter to President Xi Jinping days ago, expressing their admiration for the Chinese culture. Citing a line of the Book of Rites, "a sage may unite the people under heaven as a family", they spoke highly of the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind and the Belt and Road Initiative, sent good wishes for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malta and China, and expressed readiness to make more contributions to cultural exchanges between Malta and China.
